Gold Medal Match - St Lucia v Dominica
26 September 2010, Road Town, Tortola, British Virgin Islands.-
The first point of the match came went to St Lucia with a
beautiful spike from # 10 Julian Biscette and it was much of the
same from there till the end of first set, with St Lucia serving
tough and attacking from every position.
The St Lucian fans were prepared to cheer for their team with
drums, horns, flags and a display of their flag on traditional
madras cloth.
Meanwhile,
the Dominicans brought their flag, horn and a rudimentary drum
made from a bucket, as well as their traditional blowing of the
conch shell. There was much excitement in the air from this
long time rivalry and the crowd enjoyed every minute of it.
The St. Lucians took care of business in the second set, winning
25 – 21. St Lucia continued their dominance in the third set
with some consistent attacking and hard jump serves. In the end
it was St Lucia's night and they took home the gold. |
